What is a Starting Lesson?

Modified on Wed, 10 Sep at 7:19 PM

Starting Lesson refers to the first lesson that will appear in your student's Table of Contents.

Selecting a Starting Lesson can be handy when a student has already completed part of a course at the time their account is configured. This feature essentially hides any previous lessons and removes them from being calculated as incomplete in the student's progress reports.

Example1: Sally's mom just purchased a Math Pass so she could do Dimensions 3A with Nicole the Math Lady, but Sally has already completed the first few chapters on her own. Sally's mom can set her Starting Lesson at Chapter 3 so when Sally logs in, the first lesson that appears will be Lesson 3.

Example2: Over the summer, John did Lessons 1-20 of Algebra before we switched to the new platform. When he logged into the new platform in September, his progress showed Lessons 1-20 as incomplete. But, if his parent sets his Starting Lesson at 21, John's Table of Contents will start at 21 and the system will not expect him to complete 1-20.
