What is a Placement Test and how does it work?

Modified on Tue, 3 Mar at 6:25 PM

A Placement Test is an assessment designed to help you determine the appropriate starting point for your student within a specific curriculum.

It evaluates your student’s current understanding of key math concepts so they can begin at a level that is neither too challenging nor too easy.

Is there a fee for a Placement Test?

No. Placement Tests are provided free of charge by the curriculum publishers.

You simply download the appropriate test, print it, and administer it at home.

Who scores the Placement Test?

Each Placement Test PDF includes:

  • Instructions

  • The test

  • An answer key

  • A placement guide

After your student completes the test, you use the included answer key and placement guide to determine the recommended starting level.

What do I do after I have the results?

Once you know the recommended level:

  • Go to your Parent Dashboard

  • Open Course Settings on your student’s card

  • Select the curriculum, textbook, and Starting Lesson

  • Click Save

Your student can begin working immediately.
